Deepak enjoys and takes pleasure in doing management consulting work. He combines the practical approach of an MBA with inquisitive and analytical approach of a PhD scholar to provide business consulting. His extensive research work over the years in the field of decision-making gives him an edge over others by making him more sensitive to realize, appreciate and understand various characteristics of a decision for which the client needs consulting.

Deepak believes that every business problem of his client is unique in some ways; hence the solution too needs to be specific. The approach of ‘one shoe fits all’ will not lead to satisfactory and desired results. – Approach to even similar decisions (for example, branding and marketing of a new product) will be hugely varied in two different contexts (such as, a new venture vis-à-vis an established firm). – Deepak’s approach thus involves understanding the context of the business very well so that precise advice can be given to the clients.

Yet again, understanding the context well and providing right advice involves keeping faith in systems thinking to holistically understand the various parameters of the decision (such as, strategic importance, resource constraints, information gaps, urgency, performance expectations).

As an academic member of School of Strategy & Entrepreneurship in Australian School of Business (UNSW), Deepak has evaluated several Executive-Year MBA Business-Plans. Evaluation of these business plans included detailed comments to improve those business plans to make them more meaningful for the purpose of senior management of the organization that the MBA student belonged to.

Deepak has had chance to work on consulting projects for:

  • Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (Ministry of S&T, Govt. of India)
  • Department of Industry, Tourism, and Resources (Federal Govt. of Australia)
  • State Government of NSW, Australia
  • JAS-ANZ (joint accreditation body of Australia and New Zealand)
